This page is maintained by the Hub.Irish team to explain how personal data is handled on our community platform. It is not a legal certification. Last updated: 24 June 2026.
1. Who we are
Hub.Irish ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at hub.irish — a community platform for exploring Ireland's heritage in 3D and discovering local farms, lighthouses, beaches and castles. For any privacy-related question, contact us at hello@hub.irish.
2. Information we collect
Account data — when you create an account we store your email address, display name and an encrypted password (or, if you sign in with a third-party provider, the profile details that provider shares with us).
Profile & content — anything you post on the community feed: text, photos, comments, reactions and the locations you choose to associate with them.
Technical data — IP address, device type, browser, language and basic usage events. We use this to keep the service running and to detect abuse.
Location data — only when you explicitly enable it (e.g. "show farms near me"). We never track your location in the background.
3. How we use it
- To provide and operate the platform — accounts, the map, 3D content, the feed and notifications.
- To moderate content and prevent spam, fraud or abuse.
- To improve features and fix bugs based on aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
- To send transactional emails (password resets, security alerts). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
4. Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data under the following legal bases: contract (to deliver the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (to keep the platform safe and improve it), and consent (for optional features such as precise location or marketing communications).
5. Sharing & subprocessors
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with trusted infrastructure providers that help us run Hub.Irish:
- Hosting & database — to store accounts, posts and media.
- Google Maps Platform — to render maps, geocode addresses and compute directions.
- Sketchfab — to embed 3D models of heritage sites.
- Email delivery — to send transactional messages.
Each provider is bound by their own data-processing agreement and may only use data on our instructions.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Optional analytics cookies, when enabled, are aggregated and do not identify individual users.
7. Data retention
Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed within 30 days; anonymised aggregates may be retained for analytics and abuse prevention.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR and Irish data-protection law you can: access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, and request portability. To exercise any of these rights email hello@hub.irish. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
9. Children
Hub.Irish is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, hashed passwords, role-based access control and regular security reviews. No system is perfect; please report any vulnerability to security@hub.irish.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
